Grouped by type of degree. 2027 entry verified · 🎓 integrated Master's · ✈️ overseas / study-abroad placement · tags show how much of a stretch each is.
Hands-on Product Design degrees
Product/industrial design — sketching, prototyping, portfolio-led. His most natural fit, and no maths barrier at Aston.

Aston — BSc Product Design & InnovationBBC (or BCC + EPQ) · a STEM subject (DT counts) · no portfolio · ✈️ integrated placement — incl. international · accessible / safer
Technical Design Engineering degrees
Engineering degrees (BEng/MEng) with real design — more Maths and Physics needed. The stretch group: strong substance and brand names, but grade-dependent.
Brunel — MDes Product Design EngineeringABB inc. Maths/Physics · portfolio · 🎓 4-yr integrated Master's, or 5-yr with placement (past: Dyson, JLR) · IED-accredited · strong match

Innovation & business Design & Innovation degrees
Design blended with innovation, enterprise and sustainability — lighter on maths, broader in scope. Good if the "business of design" appeals.

💡 The lever: targets are A* in Design & Technology and A in Maths. The Product Design and Design & Innovation routes need ~ABB with little or no maths; the Design Engineering routes want A/A* in Maths. Either way Maths is the door-opener — and a portfolio (his DT work) helps almost everywhere.
🎨 The pure art-school routes (Central Saint Martins, Glasgow School of Art BDes, Edinburgh, Dundee, Northumbria) were reviewed and set aside — too creative-only for him. The full list is saved in the project if ever useful.
